League Match: Arsenal 1-3 Lyon; Karim Benzema gave Arsenal a taste of their own medicine as he sniped out the top corner of Emanuel Almunia’s net three times at the Emirates Stadium.
The Bad Gones were also able to bend the barrel of the Gunners offense, holding the top form strikers to only 1 goal for the first time all season.
Young international superstar Benzema broke open the scoring with a strike in the 11′
Without hesitation, Arsenal were able to score from an Adebayor strike after completing over 50 consecutive passes. It was truly an art form; beautiful team play!
Jean-Alain Boumsong was red carded in just the 16′, preventing Arsenal from taking the lead on a breakaway. 10 man Lyon were doomed at the moment.
Thankfully for Lyon though, Benzema’s true talent is revealed when he plays as a lone forward. In the 45′ he buried a second goal past Almunia, putting the Gunners behind for the first time this year.
Any fan would have surely predicted Arsenal to score once more, if not twice. But this was not the case, instead the 60′ led to a Benzema hat trick, which rattled the post and fell inside the net.
10 Man Lyon spent the next half hour defending, and did it well. Although Arsenal kept a record breaking passing percentage of 88% in the clubs first loss.
After the game, the Arsenal manager commented, “it would have been better if I had started my new transfers,” and continued on, “Fuckkkk”
Karim Benzema stays on top of the Golden Boot table with 23 goals, and Arsenal are still in first place in the league.
