League Match: Milan 1-3 Liverpool; Carlo Ancelotti’s may have something to worry about for his team in the Bundesliga this year. Il Diavolo have not obtained a single point in the league, losing the season opener to Chelsea and now to the more-than-talented Liverpool squad.

80,000 Italians hungry for goals from newly acquired attackers DiNatale and David Villa were let down by the Rossoneri performance. Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina stole the show, making more saves than he made versus Milan through all last seasons matches combined.
Liverpool started the match strong with lots of crisp passes. Shots from Liverpool forwards Robbie Keane and Fernando Torres kept Milan keeper Christian Abbiati on his toes, but the keeper could only hold so long. Keane finally broke the Milan defense early in the match.
As Liverpool led, Milan played a powerful counterattack. Several plays which utilized the speed of the Italian offense gave breakaways to Villa, but the Spanierd was unable to finish and brilliantly stopped by Reina.
Again minutes later, it would apear as if Milan would level the match, but the Brazilian magician Kaka was also stopped by Stonewall Reina.
Finally an opening in the wall was set up by Liverpool’s defense when a chip pass gone wrong gave an opportunity for Villa to beat Reina, and that he did. Now level in the 33′ the game was sure to be a midfield battle-but that wasn’t the case.

The rest of the match followed a simple pattern. El Nino and Keane penetrated the net on one end, and Villa and Kaka at the other. The only difference was the Reina stopped 6 breaks from Milan, and 12 of 13 shots on target, while Abbiati stopped very few.
Riera and Torres added additional goals which blew past the Milan keeper giving the Reds a wonderful 3-1 victory. Man of the match Stephen Gerrard and his midfield were able to clog the pitch for the remainder of the match, shuttign down the Villa-fied Milan offense.
