League Match: Napoli 1-3 Real Madrid; The two newest league additions faced off in the Stadio San Paolo deep in the mountains of Naples, Italy. Ruud van Nistelrooy had a hat trick as Los Merengues defeated the Azzurri.
Sergio Aguero, the acquisition from Atletico Madrid, scored the only Napoli goal in the 3-1 defeat. Madrid picked up the three points and now sit in 6th place.
Real Madrid made their debut in the Bundesliga against Chelsea, losing 1-0, but putting up a fine show of talent.
The highlight was Real’s offensive explosion from Ruud Van Nistelrooy that was reluctantly stopped by Petr Cech giving Chelsea the win.
Real Madrid management commented on the game, “We played pretty well for a first match, it was a gratifying one goal loss, and we are excited about the season.”
Madrid also faced off against defending champions Lyon in a friendly match, scoring first with a goal from Van Nistlerooy in the 1st half. Lyon came back to win 2-1 with two late goals from Benzema and Ryan Babel. Madrid played a very good match versus the Frenchmen.

The Chelsea offense dominated most of the game, but the strong Real Madrid defense held the Blues to only 3 shots. Real Madrid also sported a strong 22 tackles resulting in 2 yellow cards.
Several breaks by Van Nistelrooy and Rafael Van Der Vaart were the only hopes for Real’s offense, but Petr Cech earned the clean sheet-having 3 break away saves.
