League Match: Napoli 1-3 Real Madrid; The two newest league additions faced off in the Stadio San Paolo deep in the mountains of Naples, Italy. Ruud van Nistelrooy had a hat trick as Los Merengues defeated the Azzurri.
Sergio Aguero, the acquisition from Atletico Madrid, scored the only Napoli goal in the 3-1 defeat. Madrid picked up the three points and now sit in 6th place.
League Match: Manchester United 3-1 Milan; Another come from behind win for the fabulous Manchester United, who were losing 1 nil to AC Milan at the half. A goal from Berbatov and two from Rooney shut down the Rossoneri, dishing the Milanese their fourth loss of the season.
Ronaldinho scored a brilliant goal from the 18′ on a break, one of the few chances that Milan had against the strong back line of Rio Ferdinand, Vidic, Dani Alves and Patrice Evra who totaled 35 tackles on the day.
Man U controlled the ball for a majority of the match though, and it eventually led to a Wayne Rooney goal int he beginning of the second half.
Several more shots from Milan were put down by Van Der Sar, and the Manchester attack returned, netting another goal from Berbatov.
Now down 2-1 in the 80′, efforts from David Villa and Kaka were attempted but not enough to beat the defense.
In the 88′ Rooney scored his second goal, putting last years PC Champions and League semi finalists down to last place with no wins and four losses.
Questionable talent like David Villa, Kaka, and DiNatale have not been producing, scoring only 2 goals in four league matches. Fans wonder what the next big move will be on the Milan bench: a new keeper? a new attacker? a replacement defender? or a different formation perhaps.
On the other hand, all of Manchester United’s squad have produced brilliantly. The offense is averaging 1.7 goals per game with 15 shots per game, and the defense 23.6 tackles per game with a +1 goal differential. The team as a whole has an average of 74% passes completed per game.
OFFICIAL: Juninho to Arsenal- Lyon have sold Juninho to Arsenal for 82 PRP’s. The Les Gones Captain who led the team to win the championship last year is now a Gunner. Juninho specializes in Free kick curve and accuracy, as well as short passing. He was benched last week after a poor rating and is now back to his standard level of excellence-just in a different color shirt.
Chelsea FC management have released an official statement saying they “applaud the agreement between Lyon and Arsenal. Juninho is a player we highly respect and we wish him well,” Chelsea faces off against Arsenal in the coming week.
